  Rudolph and Clarice; adorable, fun and huggable. The cuddle buddies were designed using Premier Parfait yarn for approximately 21 inches of extra soft snuggles! Or use your favourite worsted weight yarn for slightly smaller version. Please feel free to sell any finished items made using this pattern, but please link back to this pattern and reference myself as the designer. With Tail (White)    To Add the Eye Gleam  - Thread the White ‘Tail’  through the needle  - Working counter  clockwise from where  you ended off. Move the  needle under the first  black st and then over  the next st  - Repeat once through the  same set of holes 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With Eye Colour (Mink)  shown in Taupe  - Attach in the last black st  worked  - Surface crochet through  the base of all the white  sts (See tutorial in special  sts section)  - End off   

Muzzle:

Using Strawberry, create a Magic Ring    Round 1:  6sc in the Ring (6)  Round 2: *2sc* 6 times (12)  Rounds 3-4: sc in each st (12)  Round 5: *sc in the next st, scdec* 4 times (8)  End off, leaving an 8” tail for sewing.     Nose (Clarice): made in 1 round   

Using Black, Ch 4    Round 1: 

3dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, (hdc, sc, ch2, sc, hdc)  in the last ch, turn and work in the bottom of the  chains, (3dc, ch2, ss) in the last ch.  End off, leaving a 12” tail for sewing.     Ears: (make 2 Inner and 2 Outer)  Outer: Made in continuous rounds.  Inner: Made in continuous oval rounds.

Inner Piece: Using Toffee (Cream), ch 7    Round 1: 

sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc, *2dc* twice, hdc, 3sc in the last ch, turn and begin  working in the bottom of the chains, hdc, *2dc* twice, hdc, sc, join (17) 

  End off leaving an 8” tail for sewing. With both pieces face up, place the inner piece on top of the outer  piece and sew in place using tail from the inner piece.    Santa Hat (Rudolph Only): The hat is worked in continuous rounds.

Using Strawberry, ch 85    Row 1: 

sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each of the next 83 sts,  (84)  turn, ch1, sc in each st (84), end off Red, weave in ends 

Rows 2-5:   Attach White Yarn to end of scarf, ch 1, Puff st in the end of each row (5 puff  sts), repeat at other end of the scarf.    Bow (Clarice Only):   

Using Strawberry, Ch 29  Note: 1 stitch will be placed into each chain as follows:  Row 1: RS, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc, dc, trc in each of  the next 8 sts, dc, hdc, sc, sc, hdc, dc, trc in each of the next  8 sts, dc, hdc, sc, (28 sts), TURN, ch 1  Row 2: Ss loosely in each st across (28), TURN ch1  Note: 1 stitch will be placed into each stitch as follows:  Row 3: sc, hdc, dc, trc in each of the next 8 sts, dc, hdc, sc, sc, hdc,  dc, trc in each of the next 8 sts, dc, hdc, sc, (28 sts).  With RS facing in, bring the ends together and ss across to join the 2 sides, end off leaving a 36” end for  wrapping around the middle of the bow. With the seam in the centre wrap the tail around approx 40 times  (or until desired size). Tie off and move to ‘Sewing Placement”

Sewing Placement - I highly recommend pinning ALL parts in place BEFORE sewing to make sure everything  sits properly and is to your liking :)    Please see video to assist with sewing Ears, Arms and Legs: ​https://youtu.be/bp42oWBCUAI  Muzzle:    Centre on front of the cheeks (use the st markers as a  guide to show the inner edges of the cheeks) approx 3  rounds up from the smallest part of the neck (Round  40). Stuff lightly and sew in place.      Nose (Rudolph):    Place the nose, approx 2-3 round above the centre of  the muzzle. Stuff and sew in place    Nose (Clarice):    Place the bottom point of the heart in the centre of the  muzzle. Sew in place.   

Eyes:    Place the eyes 1 round above the muzzle approx 3-4 sts  apart. Sew in place.     

 

   

Santa Hat (Rudolph Only):    Place the Santa Hat to one side (you may want to sew  on 1 ear and 1 antler first to help with placement). Sew  down along the last round.      Ears:    Place the ear approx 4 sts behind the eye so that the  bottom rests a couple rounds above the cheek and sew  in place. I recommend sewing along the row created by  single crocheting the 2 sides together and then sewing  approx 2 rounds up (Round 9) to the head just behind  the ear to help it stand up. Antlers:    Place the antlers in between the ears, approx 2 rounds  above the ear. Finish stuffing and sew in place. 

Tummy:    Place the tummy with the top (narrowest end) 2 rounds  below the smallest part of the neck (Round 35). 

Shaping Hooves (Arms and Legs)​:    To shape the hooves, with Mink yarn, insert the needle  in through the middle of the first round and out through  the last Black coloured st. Repeat 3-4 times pulling  firmly each time. End off by knotting both ends near the  insertion point and then weave them in.      Arms:      Attach the arms on round 34 (bottom of the smallest part of the neck) with approx 6-7 sts between them. Sew down the last full round of sts.   

  Legs: Centred based on the heads position. Place the inner part of the legs across from each other, at about round 3-4 of the body. Sew down the last full round of sts.

Tail:    Centred based on the back of the head, place the tail at  approx round 9 of the body. Sew in place.

Scarf:     Tie the scarf around the neck.   

Bow:    Place the bow centred between the 2 ears. Sew in  place.      Eyelashes:    Using Black, back stitch along the top of the eye and add  eyelashes to the outer edge of each eye.
