What does Chris do when he first meets the interviewers? Chris waves to everyone and explains that he looks that way because he was painting. 2. What is strange about his appearance? Why?

The strange thing about his appearance is that he was looking for a fancy job and he went to the interview with his builder's clothes all stained with paint. 3. What qualities does he mention in his explanation to the interviewers?

Chris says his qualities were teamwork, seriousness, intelligence and diligence. 4. Why is he given the opportunity to do the internship?

Because Chris said that he was that kind of person who when he asks something and doesn't have the answer says "I don't know" but that he would do everything possible to get an answer. 5. What is the job he is applying for?

The job Chris was applying for was a stockbroker. 6. What are the conditions?

The conditions were to be good with numbers and people. c) The internship (=training program) is not paid in this case. Find out what an internship is and what benefits you can obtain, even if you don’t get a salary. Explain.

An internship is a period of work experience offered by an employer to give students and graduates exposure to the working environment, often within a specific industry, which relates to their field of study. Internships can be as short as a week or as long as 12

months. They can be paid or voluntary; however, before you start an internship it’s important to know your rights with regards to getting paid. What does this mean?

Chris's wife, Linda, at the hotel instead of having a shift from 1pm to 6pm has that but twice in a row without knowing how long each shift is going to be since that varies depending on the day and the job. Find out information and explain/give examples of the following “working conditions”:

Full-time job: Full-time job: employment in which a person works a minimum number of hours defined as such by their employer. Examples include some healthcare workers, transit drivers, and pilots. As Alison Doyle explains in an article on full-time employment, “The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) dictates that employers must pay non-exempt employees time and one half for any hours worked above 40 per week. Part-time job: A part-time job is a form of employment that carries fewer hours per week than a full-time job. They work in shifts. The shifts are often rotational. Workers are considered to be part-time if they commonly work fewer than 30 hours per week. Temporary job: temporary job refers to an employment situation where the working arrangement is limited to a certain period of time based on the needs of the employing organization. Permanent job: A permanent job is one that is expected to last as long as the employee wants it, given that business conditions permit. There is no predetermined termination date. To be self-employed: A self-employed person does not work for a specific employer who pays them a consistent salary or wage. Self-employed individuals, or independent contractors, earn income by contracting with a trade or business directly. To be an employee: An employee is someone you hire and pay for their work, which you use to benefit your business.

e) Watch the scene in this clip : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPEdwaLQLag “You can’t let people discourage you from your dreams just because they have been unsuccessful themselves.” Write a paragraph: a) describe the scene and b) explain Chris’ message to his son c) Do you agree with him? Give a personal example.

In the scene you can see Chris with his son Christopher playing basketball and Chris tells his son a message that is something that I always emphasize in my life. He tells him that every time he tries to do something there will always be people who will tell you not to do it because you are going to fail, but that in reality it is that these people have failed and they do not want you to be more successful than they. This phrase is something that, as I said before, marks me a lot because no matter how much they tell me that I am not going to achieve it, I always do everything possible to be able to achieve it regardless of what they throw me down.

f) Lastly, watch the interview to real Christopher Gardner , who inspired the movie : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo4hq4Fy02k What differences does he mention between what he lived and what the movie shows?

Some of the differences that I could observe between the movie and what actually happened is that in the scene where they played cavemen they actually played invisible and that the boy in the movie was 5 years old and actually 14 months old. What is the message or teaching he leaves?

The message he leaves us is that we always have to have a plan in life because with that plan is why you are going to give everything of yourself to achieve that goal and that you do not need to have a plan b, you just need to have plan a to give everything and thus be able to get the plan a. That is why it will keep you alive.
