Invisible fasten off After completing your last stitch, cut yarn, leaving a 4” (10 cm) tail. Pull up on hook until the cutend is drawn through. Thread cut end onto tapestry needle. Insert needle from the front tothe back under both loops of not the first but the second stitch before where you are andpull through. Do not draw too tightly. Then stitch back into the middle of the last stitch you completed. Insert needle from the front to the back under the back looponly. Pull the yarn end gently until the loop is the same size as the ‘V’ at the top of all your other stitches. Weave the end through several stitches at the back of your work to secure it.

SHORT LEG (make 2) Ch 24, close the chain to the ring with slst. Сrochet 8 sc round in spiral. Make ch1, fold the short legs in half and join the loop on the right. Put in the leg in the centre of the short leg and connect the edges with sc. I made like this: 3 sc by grabbing edges of the short legs only, 5 sc by grabbing edges of short legs and the leg, 3 sc by grabbing the edges of short legs only.

16-25) 10 rounds sc in each st. (84) 26) HDC in each st. (84) Leave the yarn for sewing. Decorate the shorts with contrast colour thread stitches. Put on the shorts to the rooster and sew. Sew between 24th and 25th rows.

Make ch 35 for strap, insert a hook in the second st from the hook and crochet sc in each st, ch 1, turn the crocheting and make one more row with sc. Sew strap edges for the shorts. Sew the buttons. You can also make the buttons yourself: 10 sc in the magic ring.

EYES (make 2) Use white yarn 1) mr, 6 sc (6) 2) 6 inc. (12) 3) sc in each st. (12) Change to light beige 4) in back loops only sc in each st (12) Cut the yarn, leaving a 25 cm long yarn tail.

Sew eyes under the beak. Put a bit stuffing in the eyes. Use the same yarn to wrap the front loops of the 4th row. Do it with the help of the needle. Wrap twice each loop.

WATTLES (make 2) Ch 7. Start in 2nd ch from hook: 2 sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, 4 dc in last st. of ch. Then work on the opposite side of the foundation ch: 1 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc. Leave the tail for the sewing. Sew the wattles under the beak.

FINISHING: There’s a little to do. Think about the mood you want to give a rooster. Where will its eyes be looking? And according to your ideas glue the black half eyes. Embroider the eyebrows.

And that is all! Cucaracha is “hatched" and ready to bring happiness to the world!
