pattern notes Welcome to the Christmas Collection! As an Australian, our Christmas traditions can sometimes feel a little misplaced, being far better suited to a northern hemisphere winter. Snowmen in the heat of summer? Heavy roast dinners and boiled desserts before a swim at the beach? Nevertheless, we love to embrace all this season of celebration has to offer, so here is my take on a few festive favourites. Please enjoy! About this pattern This crochet pattern includes instructions for creating 'Pine the little Christmas Tree'. You'll find the written pattern detailed on pages 5 through to 8, with example photos for the head assembly and arm attachment included on page 9. General tips and recommendations knowledge of basic crochet stitches and amigurumi technique is recommended for this pattern round (or row) numbers are indicated in bold at the start of each line work in continuous rounds (spiral) unless otherwise indicated mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker change yarn colour on the last step of the previous stitch (i.e. the stitch before the indicated colour change) use an 'invisible decrease' when working decreases on closed pieces.

A note on faces Embroidering the face on your amigurumi can take practise and patience, but will add lots of individual personality... no two are ever the same! For these patterns, I find it easier to add embroidered details after finishing the head and hair. You may find it useful to use dress-making pins to first mark the position of the eyes and mouth, then embroider features using an embroidery needle (sharp tip). For more secure placement, I suggest working into (rather than between) stitches. And finally... Thank you for choosing an oche pots pattern! I hope you enjoy creating your own little collection of Christmas friends. Love Clare x

Finished size Pine is about 20 cm tall when made using the recommended yarn and hook size (will vary based on tension and crochet style). head assembly Continue in green. Place front and back head pieces together (wrong-sides facing). Insert hook into next st on back piece and then into a corresponding st on front piece. Work a sc to join. Make another 39 sc around, working through both front and back head pieces. This is the 'hairline'.

Fasten off, leaving an extra long yarn tail.

Change to skin colour. Continue working a further 26 sc around the head, stuffing firmly before closing the rnd with a sl st.

Use a tapestry needle to sew fringe in place, securing to the hairline. Secure the back of the tree top (row 10) to the back of the head, using pictures as a guide.

Position hair on front of head so fringe aligns with green 'hairline'. Gently pull fringe into position, securing with dressmaking pins as you go. Lightly stuff the 'tree top'.

Fasten off and weave in yarn ends.
